Botanical Compounding Architecture

From arrival GC/MS isolation of raw steam condensates to calibrated polycone capillary packaging, our Chicago formulation stages maintain verified terpene integrity without petrochemical diluents.

Studio Formulation Progression 01 FRACTIONATION 02 BLENDING & VISCOSITY 03 FILLING 04 VERIFICATION
Stage 1 • Extraction & Fractionation

Raw botanical extraction and cold fractionation

Direct partnerships with certified botanical harvests supply pure essential oil fractions isolated through steam distillation and cold citrus rind expression. Terpene fractions are analyzed on arrival to confirm zero dipropylene glycol or synthetic phthalate carriers before any compounding begins in our Chicago studio.

Stage 2 • Formulation Calibration

Cold compounding and capillary evaporation calibration

Single distillations are weighed on precision analytical balances and blended with non-volatile plant esters. Each batch is evaluated for viscosity and evaporation velocity under controlled 68°F indoor conditions to guarantee steady capillary lift through porous rattan sticks and clean release in ultrasonic water wells.

Stage 3 • Bottling & Seals

Amber glass packaging and phenolic polycone sealing

Finished botanical oils are transferred into thick-walled USP pharmaceutical amber bottles that shield volatile monoterpenes against photo-degradation. Closures use conical polyethylene liners that seal directly against the lip of the bottle, preventing ambient oxidation during transit and storage.

Stage 4 • Direct Studio Dispatch

Illinois entity registration and direct batch verification

Every bottle leaves our Michigan Avenue facility with a stamped batch sheet and physical verification. Irina Petrova reviews each formulation record prior to dispatch, maintaining full compliance under our active entity registration with the Illinois Secretary of State.

Compounding cold-ultrasonic aroma oils for residential spaces

Domestic misting requires botanical oils that disperse freely across a cold water reservoir without leaving gummy residue on the ultrasonic transducer disc. Most commercial room fragrances rely on heavy glycol solvents that coat the transducer, cutting mist plume height by half within two weeks. We compound standard 1 oz bottles ($10–$25 USD) and 1/2 oz bottles ($10–$20 USD) using light medium-chain neutral plant fractions that remain fluid in cool water.

A customer in Chicago’s South Loop needed an evening diffusion profile for a 420-square-foot loft with forced-air heating. We supplied three 1 oz bottles containing balanced fractions of French lavender, Atlas cedarwood, and Calabrian bergamot. The resident reported zero calcified ring around the tank perimeter and consistent aroma dispersion at four drops per five-hour diffusion cycle.

Calibrating pharmaceutical dropper pipettes for exact drop delivery

Accurate dosage prevents over-saturation in compact rooms. Our 10 mL concentrated dropper vials ($9–$13 USD) and 50 mL flacons ($13 USD) are fitted with borosilicate glass pipettes calibrated to release 0.05 mL per drop at 68°F. That allows users to count exact dosages without running through volatile botanical fractions faster than intended.

The diagram below highlights the structural engineering of our dispensing assemblies: heavy amber glass with high UV-absorbance, chemical-resistant rubber bulbs that do not degrade from essential terpenes, and ground glass tips that deliver a uniform meniscus.

Dispensing Standards
  • Dropper Meniscus 0.05 mL per droplet
  • Glass Material Type III Amber Borosilicate
  • Bulb Elastomer Nitrile / Terpene-Resistant
  • Vial Price Bracket 9–13 USD (10 mL)

USP Type III Amber Glass

Blocks 98% of light wavelengths below 450 nm, preventing oxidation of botanical terpenes.

Tamper Phenolic Neck

Machined polycone liner locks the rim tight against volatile ambient evaporation.

Saturating unglazed ceramic stones for compact workspace diffusion

Porous ceramic stones require heavier terpene molecules that anchor into microscopic chalk pores rather than flashing off in twenty minutes. For executive desktops and studio treatment booths, high-viscosity resins like Atlas cedarwood and labdanum provide continuous micro-evaporation without heating elements or noisy pumps.

A design consultancy in Chicago’s Fulton Market needed quiet scenting across six individual desks without airborne humidity that might buckle archival tracing papers. We formulated twenty-four 1/2 oz bottles ($10–$20 USD) of low-volatility conifer compositions. Each desk was supplied with an unglazed ceramic pebble receiving three drops every morning at 8:30 AM.

Formulation boundaries and what our studio will not produce

Personal perfumes, colognes, and body sprays are entirely excluded from our work. Our oils are compounded strictly for ambient room evaporation and ultrasonic misting. They are not cleared for direct cosmetic topical application or culinary ingestion.

Synthetic dipropylene glycol (DPG) and industrial masking agents are banned from our workshop. While synthetic glycol makes fragrance linger artificially on textiles, it creates gummy build-up on ceramic discs and causes headache triggers in poorly ventilated rooms. If you require synthetic ten-day perfume projection from an aerosol spray, our botanical distillations are not suited for your requirements.

Studio Exclusions
  • Topical Body Sprays Not Formulated
  • Dipropylene Glycol Zero Tolerance
  • Synthetic Musk Excluded
  • Aerosol Canisters Not Produced
